It's not glamorous, or gorgeous, or even fun a lot of the time---but watering is one of the foundations of how well your newly purchased flowers/shrubs/trees will look after getting them in the ground.Top Five Ways to Water Wisely

  1. Water early in the morning

  3. Amend soil with compost to increase soil's water-holding capacity.
  4. Water deeply but less oftenMake the best use of your water by watering deeply but less often to encourage roots to grow down. Try to wet the soil to at least 6 inches down every 10 days or so.
  5. Water at the base of the plant
