But we love them so much that we couldn’t limit ourselves to the traditional colors. This season, we’ve grown ten varieties ranging from deep scarlets to stunning fuchsia and crisp white, and everything in between. You can’t go wrong with its deep green leaves and red bracts. In case you didn’t know, the term bract refers to the brightly colored leaves of these plants. They are different from the flowers, which are the small golden buds at the center of each set of bracts.
Polar Bear features ivory bracts with white-green transition leaves below. The variety was originally developed by the Paul Ecke Ranch in California, a ranch famous for its poinsettias. They donated some of their proceeds from the Polar Bear variety to the conservation of polar bears in the arctic.
